From Afar?

Each summer I send my wife to Japan. She is from there and I see it as a way to allow her some stress relief from having to spend the other 10 months of the year speaking English (she is very good). I also go for a week to visit family and eat at some amazing restraunts.

This break allows us some time apart (which I dislike), and for some introspection time into the nature of our relationship. However the purpose of this post is not about thoughts, but rather action. Since my wife is away, I have to consider how can I let her know she is in my thoughts? How can I let her know I love and miss her? What can I do each day while she is gone to add to the bank?

I think I can break it down into two categories. The first would be interactions with her, through email, letters, phone calls, or maybe even a package from a local japanese flower shop? The other would be actions I could take in the home and have ready for her when she returns.

Since she is not here at the moment today I will try to do a little of both since I have the time. For things here I will exercise each day for 30 mins. My thoughts are that being in good shape means being healthy, better stamina, better body shape, possibly better sex, sick less often, etc. I also think that it is a good start for learning a new habit. After all doing at least one thing a day is going to have to become a habit, and I am going to have to learn how to establish new habits right?

As for something that has an interaction with her each day, I think today
I shall write a hand written letter telling her, well I think you know what. As for tomorrow and the next day we shall have to see what I come up with. I will keep a log and tell you how successful I have been with each goal when I get the opportunity.

Hopefully, these new habits will make her happy.

The First Step

Confuscious said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. However before that step can be taken we must choose the destination that we wish to travel to. So as I step forward on my journey, I must decide where I want to go, and what is it that I hope to accomplish.

You might question why I would wish to make changes to a relationship that has few if any problems, and a marriage that already makes me happy. I not sure I understand it myself. There is a deep driving want to have my wife look upon me, and to see in her eyes a joy beyond description. A utter and profound happiness that stems from my involvement in her life.

Our marriage is currently good, better then I thought I would ever have, and I am more content in my life then I ever thought possible. It is not that my wife is unhappy, she seems to my eyes to enjoy our life as much as I do. Rather it is the thought that we have but one life to live, should we not then live it to it's fullest?

I wish to make her happy. This thought more then anything tumbles over and over through my head. The problem is my good intentions and thoughts do nothing to show my wife how much I truly love and care for her, this is what I want to change. So the first step; what are my goals with this journey and this blog?

My goal is simple, it is to make my wife happy. I believe love is like a bank, marriage too, and each day you can deposit into it, or withdraw something out. My goal with this journey is to each day deposit something into this bank. When all is said and done I wish my wife's bank to be the richest in the world. I think it starts with each day, and the small little things that can be done. So my first step is to do something each day, to create one habit at a time that adds something to this bank that is our marriage.

The blog is here to keep me honest, to chronicle and encourage my journey towards this path I have choosen. It is here to allow me to read and reflect back on where I have been and the successes and failures as I tread this way.

The goal of it all, to make her happy

For Her.

So I ended one part of my life, and I have decided to pursue another. Perhaps this would start better with a little background story.

I am happily married. I have been married for just under four years at this point, and I can honestly say I have no complaints. I have a beautiful intelligent daughter, she will turn four later this year. I have a good job, and my wife is beautiful and we almost never argue.

So why the blog, from what little I have seen on the internet, most blogs about a wife and husband seem to be of two types. A: 'Save your Marriage' and B: 'Pics of the Family'. I have no interest in showing pictures of myself or my family, and my marriage is not in need of being saved.

What it comes down to is that I am happy. It is not the drug or alcohol induced temporary high, or the momentary flush of success. Rather I am deeply content, a quiet pervading feeling of inner peace and contentment when it comes to my wife who is the love of my life. I am Happy. I know because when she is not with me that feeling subsides.

This blog is meant to be a chronicle of my journey I suppose. I am happy, my wife has made sure of it these last four years. I hope that I have been a husband worthy of the life I currently live. But if I haven't, then this is a begining, a start perhaps, with the goal to make her happy.
